In July 2017, Gu Weiguo, Dean of Huaiyin Normal University, and Su Mei, Vice Dean, accompanied by the President of the Saranto Sino Italian Cultural Exchange Association, visited the Accademia di belle arti di Lecce in Italy for a friendly visit. In this fruitful meeting, both sides reached consensus on multiple fields such as education study abroad, student professor exchange, and artistic and cultural exchange, aiming to strengthen cooperation in science and academia.

During the visit, Dean Gu Weiguo and Vice Dean Su Mei had cordial talks with Claudio Delli Santi, Dean of the Leicester Academy of Fine Arts. During the meeting, both sides fully exchanged the educational and cultural characteristics of their respective universities, and shared the latest developments in the fields of art, science, and education.

In order to deepen friendly cooperation, both sides exchanged special gifts, symbolizing the deep friendship and desire for cooperation between the two sides.

Dean Gu Weiguo said during his visit, "We feel very honored to visit the Lecce Academy in Italy, which is a very meaningful visit. The two sides have broad cooperation space in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges. We look forward to closer cooperation in the future to promote further development of the two schools in the fields of art and academia."

Dean Claudio Delli Santi also expressed his expectations for cooperation: "Huaiyin Normal University is a school with abundant educational resources and strong teaching staff. We are full of confidence in future cooperation. We believe that cooperation between the two sides will provide more international opportunities for students and professors, and also promote interdisciplinary exchanges in art, science, and culture."

This friendly visit not only brought Huaiyin Normal University and Leche Academy closer together, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Both sides have agreed to deepen cooperation in multiple fields such as education study abroad, student professor exchange, and artistic and cultural exchange, in order to promote closer ties between China and Italy in the fields of science and academia.
